Pulp & Paper → PAPER MACHINE HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEM INSTALLATION
Coenen Mechanical was a sub-contractor for a major paper industry OEM for the installation of a new paper machine heat recovery system. Work included installation of three heat recovery towers (air to air, air to water, and air to glycol) to reclaim heat from the paper machine exhaust. A new glycol heating system for the entire machine was installed, replacing all steam coils in the machine room with glycol coils including a new control system. The OEM provided all of the equipment for the project. Coenen completed piping layout, design, fabrication, and engineering for over 2,000 feet of water and glycol piping. In addition to the piping, Coenen installed ductwork to all three towers and replaced two exhaust fans/stacks.<p>Work on this project was completed within a short schedule window with one 2-day outage to complete the tie-ins, start-up, and commission. Coenen served as the project manager responsible for all subcontractors, schedule, QA/QC, and risk control.
